Once voted one of the prettiest painted towns, Philipsburg is located 14 miles west of Georgetown Lake. It is a community of approximately 820 people and is the county seat of Granite County. Its roots started as a mining town. Today, tourism, ranching, and sapphire mining support the community. The retail business is Philipsburg is doing well. The downtown is beautiful and has many quaint shops, restaurants, and bars. The candy store and sapphire shop as well as the local brewery are anchors for downtown. There are many community events that take place in Philipsburg including Flint Creek Valley Days, Car Shows, Brewfest, and Yule Night. Located in town is the Montana Law Enforcement Museum, the Opera House Theater, and just outside of Philipsburg is the Granite Ghost Town State Park. Philipsburg has become a destination spot for many.
